The importance of representativeness, even in the images used!

When you’re creating a corporate culture that welcomes people from all walks of life, the photos you use shouldn’t leave your employees out in the cold.

Here are four royalty-free image websites (most of them) celebrating diversity!

👉 Nappy
Created by an American marketing agency, Nappy’s founders couldn’t find much diversity in the usual image banks. So they decided to create their own collection, because as they themselves say, of course, “black people also drink coffee, use computers and certainly like to travel!”

👉 Mapbox – Queer in Tech
Mapbox is an American startup that creates personalized online maps for websites and apps. In 2020, the employee resource group decided to release a collection of images to promote the visibility of queer and gender non-conforming people in tech.

👉 Broadly – The Gender Spectrum Collection
Diversity takes many forms, and one of them is gender identity. Broadly has put together a collection of photos featuring trans and non-binary models who go beyond clichés.

👉 Getty Images – The Disability Collection
Arguably one of the best-known image sites, Getty Images, has teamed up with the National Disability Leadership Alliance to create a collection of images that break down stereotypes and give a more authentic image of people with disabilities.

The Pre&ent project aims to assemble a collection of images to better represent the vast diversity that makes up our society, our realities and our experiences. A bank of images that authentically reflect the realities of ethnocultures, genders, ages and morphologies. Project currently undergoing socio-financing.
